Everyone feels uncomfortable when they discover they have bad breath.
Here are a few tips you can have in mind in order to avoid it.
Diet
The food you consume can produce bad breath in your mouth. This can happen even hours after eating. Coffee, onions and garlic are typical culprits of bad breath but eggs, peppers and cheese can sometimes also cause bad breath. Be sure to always carry a toothbrush with you after ingesting any of this products.
Drink plenty of fluids
Lack of proper hydration has a direct relationship with halitosis (bad breath). Halitosis can be the product of a dry mouth as well as prescription medication.
Tobacco and Cigarettes
Tobacco products increase the chances of having bad breath. It dries your mouth, and due to its odor, can produce a foul smell in your mouth.
Lack of brushing and flossing
A lot of people lack proper dental hygiene and their halitosis can be directly related to poor brushing and flossing. In some cases you can be brushing or flossing wrong without knowing. Be sure to ask your Doctor at your next appointment what’s the best way to brush and floss your teeth.
If you’re already brushing and flossing properly, make sure you do it after meals, and at least twice a day.
Mouthwash
Mouthwash is an excellent way to rinse after brushing. It will contribute to a healthy dental hygiene while preventing bad breath.
If you’ve tried all of these and your breath doesn’t improve, try keeping a log of the foods you eat, the medications you take and your daily routine to see if any of it correlates with your halitosis flare-ups. Discuss the problem with your Doctor they may be able to provide a recommendation or some insight into the condition.
